Universal Traveler. 3 feet x 27 feet | Oil on Canvas 2010 | 13 canvas pieces | SOLD

I was raised between the United States and Japan.  This series translates several experiences of travel in between destinations such as the detached feeling of unfamiliarity, passing by unknown people and places, the skewed notions of time, movement and distance as abstraction.  The paintings give emphasis on the distance from people and places to observe the transitory and illusive elements as a way to illustrate the present moment as ephemeral.

Universal Traveler is about the experience of transitions in-between destinations.

"I feel neither belonging to here or there, rather partially present. "
